Attraction
Queenstown Gardens, also known as Te Kararo, is a public park on a peninsula reaching into Lake Wakatipu, with exotic and native trees, flower beds, a pond and views across the lake to the surrounding mountains. The grounds hold facilities for disc golf, tennis, skating and other recreation, plus picnic areas and restrooms. Entry is free and the park is managed by Queenstown Lakes District Council.
The gardens are a few minutes' walk from central Queenstown, reached along the lakefront promenade from the town centre without needing a car or bus. The peninsula location means the park is bordered by Lake Wakatipu on several sides, and paths loop around the shoreline and through the planted grounds. Cyclists and walkers can continue along connecting lakeside trails beyond the gardens.
