Attraction
Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is a wildlife park in Harewood on Christchurch's northern edge, focused on native New Zealand species including kiwi, kea and tuatara alongside farm and exotic animals. Visitors walk boardwalks and paths between enclosures, with scheduled keeper talks and feeding times through the day. The reserve is open daily 9:30am to 5pm, closed only on Christmas Day, and tickets can be booked online in advance.
Willowbank is at 60 Hussey Road, Harewood, roughly 10 minutes' drive north of Christchurch city centre and close to Christchurch Airport. Self-driving with on-site parking is the usual way to reach it, since it sits away from the central bus network; some city sightseeing tours and shuttle transfers include it as a stop. Boardwalks and sealed paths link the enclosures, making the reserve manageable on foot once inside. Tickets and any tour or transfer add-ons are best booked ahead online.
