Attraction
Waipara Springs is a family-run winery and cafe in the Waipara Valley of North Canterbury, established in 1990 as the district's founding winery. Visitors can taste a five-wine flight at the cellar door for a set fee, or eat at the on-site cafe overlooking the vineyard; both the tasting room and restaurant operate on a walk-in basis, though bookings are recommended for dining.
Waipara Springs sits in the Waipara Valley, off State Highway 1 in North Canterbury, roughly 45 minutes' drive north of Christchurch. The winery has its own car park at the cellar door and restaurant. It is one of several wineries clustered along the Waipara wine trail, so many visitors combine it with a self-drive tour of neighbouring vineyards, or join a small-group wine tour departing from Christchurch that includes transport and tastings without the need to drive.
