How to get there
Hanmer Springs village sits inland from the Waiau River, roughly 130 kilometres north of Christchurch, a drive of around two hours on State Highway 7 and 7A that includes a short section over the Balmoral Forest hills. Several coach operators run scheduled day-trip transfers from Christchurch to the pools, particularly in summer. On-site parking is available at the pools complex in the village centre, and the pools are within walking distance of most Hanmer Springs accommodation.
